how do i find correct depth
How do i connect float and hooks for coarse fishing?
If I've read your question right:
I assume you know how to tie a hook? If not, the easiest way to explain a simple knot is to use a basic granny knot, but loop it 6 times. It's very hard to explain but very easy to do. The assistant at your local tackle shop will be able to show you in seconds.
As for the float - guess the depth of the water and attach your float with split-shot (about 4 to 6 inches apart) then...........
For the depth - you need something called a Plummet. It's a weight that you attach to your hook. Then you cast to the area that you want to fish and the weight takes your hook to the bottom.
If the water is deeper than you thought, your float with be taken under, so you need to move the float further away from the hook.
If the water is more shallow than you thought, your float will lay on its side on the top of the water, so you need to move the float nearer to the hook.
You need to repeat this until your float sits perfectly in the water. This is when all you can see is the orange tip of your float poking out of the water.
Its trial and error. You'll soon get the hang of it.
Good luck.
