Can anybody tell me what captain HOOKS name was before he lost his hand???
In the original novel it HINTS at who he is.

It claims he was the only one Barbecue was afraid of, and Barbecue was the only one Morgan was afraid of. This is a reference to Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island" - Barbecue was a nickname for Long John Silver, who was (at times) ship's cook. This, however, is a red herring.

Hook's first name was James, which he signed "Jas". It also states that his true identity, if it were revealed, "would cause a scandal, even today" because he was someone high up in society at one stage.

From this the reader can guess James Cook (so-called discoverer of Australia - yep, right where all the accounts said it was (don't get me started)) - it is easy to imagine when he loses a hand a gets a hook he picks up the nickname "Hook" which he is later known by.

This can only be guessed, as nothing more is said of his identity, and it was a fictional character after all.

This is a quote from wikipedia

"In 2005, James V. Hart (also the co writer of the movie Hook) published the book Capt. Hook by arrangement with Great Ormond Street Hospital. The book details the history of 15-year old James Matthew, young Oppidan Scholar and future Captain Hook. The book portrays the villainous youth in a sympathetic light."

there is now, it just wasn't written by JM Berry. Ridley Pearson and Dave um....somebody have written two prequel books for the Peter Pan tale. And Captain Hook has a different name in those books. I think it was Black Stache the Pirate, but don't quote me on that one. The books are Peter and the Starcatchers and Peter and the Shadowthieves.
