Why does trying to hit low hooks keep me from shanking? Better yet, why have I a 7 hdcp had trouble shanking?

If you try to hit low punch shots, there is a risk of you shanking it because you have all the weight on your left foot. Shanks come from taking the club outside the line and looking up causing the shank. Try to take the club in towards your body and not out and stay down on the ball.

Reply:handicap schmandicap. Golf Happens! you have done something to piss the gods off. start by checking your ball position. you are probably one of the few who have mastered swinging from inside out, maybe to much here. if I had a guess you might be finding the hossel more often than the sweet spot.
Reply:I am amazed that you think you have a 7 handicap, but lack a firm handle on the english language. Too much tv and not enough sunlight. Good boy now go play.

Idiot.
Reply:The Dreaded S's come to every golfer from time to time...Hang in there....they do disappear after a bit......but beware...they will rear their ugly heads again...
