How do you get treble hooks out of chain pickerels mouth?

I always carry an 8" long nose pliers just for such instances.

How do you get treble hooks out of chain pickerels mouth?
for any ESOX (pike/muskie) a landing glove a jaw spreader and a long pair of needle nose pliers and you will always get your bait back. A jaw spreader will save you when those critters just won't open their mouths no matter what.make sure the spreader you purchase is on the small side or you will damage the smallish chain pickerels mouth
Reply:needlenose pliers, preferably with a long handle to keep your hands away from those teeth. we use them for musky, which are far more dangerous. another great option for extra hard extractions is a hook cutter (strong wire cutters will also work)
Reply:CAREFULLY!!!! seriously when handling toothy fish i wear leather gloves and always have your needlenose pliers handy...your buddies might call you a pussy but you can laugh at them when they have a lure with 2 hooks jammed into thier hand and at the same time hooks from the same lure hooked into a thrashing fish. Its not pretty and will most certainly end in an emergency room visit. Better safe then sorry. the gloves have saved me from injury a few times.

Good luck and let the big ones go!!!
Reply:Learn to use release tools like jaw spreaders, needlenose pliers, hemostats and always wear gloves.
