Every year we pull out the Christmas thee ornaments, and half the little hookie thingies are gone.
Where do all of the hooks from the ornaments go.?
They are eaten by the Christmas Tree Ornament Hookie-thing Nibbling Gnomes. Ball-point pens are eaten by the Desk Drawer Dwelling Ball-point Pen Eating Elves, socks by the washing machine ( nothing magical about that ) and keys..well, keys are not eaten by anything, they simply get bored and leave.

p.s. soap..check out the bear behind the bathroom door, you will find that he is suspiciously clean and pleasant smelling.
