Sharks have two big hooks in them, whats up?

I thought this was the year of the Shark. Now Dallas ,who seems to fold like a cot,is stepping up big time. What is up.I see Brad Richards is earning his money 1 goal 3 helpers last night.I thought San Jose had more firepower.Nothing against Dallas, but they are playing above themselves now.Can San Jose come back or will Dallas keep it going?Where is Joe Thornton, did He have the night off?

Sharks have two big hooks in them, whats up?
As a Die-Hard Stars fan, I love this.

I have seen this coming...okay not up 2-0, but I have seen the Stars look like they could actually give teams a run and possibly even contend.

All you have to do is look to last year and getting knocked out to Vancouver. How often have you seen a team lose a 7 game series while getting 3 shutouts? Last year the Stars couldn't score, but Turco was strong enough in net that the Stars could be considered a Cup Contender!!!

This year they started to score and they where able to make a trade to bring in Richards and give themselves 3 solid scoring lines. Maybe not the best in the game, but enough of a threat on each line to force other teams to hope they can slow somebody down, knowing that they will give up some type of scoring opportunity and quite possibly a couple of goals.

I think one issue with the media coverage is that they rate Ribeiro off of his Canada days, where he was young and undeveloped. We in Dallas have had the opportunity to watch this guy grow before our very eyes, and with no pressue of being in Hockey Heaven. The guy has been able to play under the radar and now he is getting a chance to show his mantra.

To me the big surprise also is the big hope that this will not be a one year and done for the Stars...it is the play of 3 rookie Defenseman. THREE!!!

This Stars team has a great mix of Leadership, veterans, youth...they are not too heavy on any one department and then coupled with the continued excellence of Marty Turco...We Stars fans are not surprised and now Hockey nation is getting the chance to watch in amazement.

One game at a time, one series at a time.
Reply:Their biggest weakness is back to haunt them again. The killer instinct has decided to find a cave and hide again. You're not alone as many had thought this was the Shark's year including me. I didn't even see Dallas surviving the first round against Anaheim and here they are. SJ has the firepower but just like the regular season, it has been missing all year. Joe Thornton is once again missing in the post season. He thinks pass too often and should do more to help his team (plant himself in front of Turco, take more shots, etc.). But as far as SJ is concerned, i really don't know what to expect the next week. SJ does play better with adversity, they were the best road team in the NHL this year, and in the playoffs, you need to win 4 games, not 2 to move on. Does SJ have what it takes to come back against Dallas even down 2 games? Absolutely. Will they? Thats the million dollar question......
Reply:Dallas is playing great. As a Detroit fan I am scared to play them right now. Dallas has played pretty evenly at home and on the road this regular season (2-1 playoffs at home) so I expect the Sharks to bite back and take game 3 on the road. But unless they make a major turnaround I am comfortable saying the Sharks are done in 5.
Reply:Dallas looks great.

I don't know why but they look like they are clicking at the perfect time. I don't think a single analyist even mentioned Dallas at the start of the playoffs, but they look like they could make some serious noise the rest of the way.

TSN's whole panel had them losing to the Ducks, no one at SI.com even mentions the Stars, ESPN.com had them losing to the Ducks and now has them losing to the Sharks.

They have solid goaltending and guys that can put the puck in the net, and they are hot at the right time... Their looking pretty tough right now.
Reply:I don't understand why they lost two at home but it can still be the year of the Sharks. It is a 7 game series. Not two. I think Sharks can definately come back.

GO SHARKS!
