Are there special hooks to use for bottom fishing?

As in the bottom of the lake? Any tips for this kind of fishing?

Are there special hooks to use for bottom fishing?
Not really, any type of hook can be used for bottom fishing!

Use the standard fish finder rig to start out with it is a 3 way swivel with a hook off a leader then a line off the other part of swivel down a lenght of line to a sinker!

Or on your main line put on a slip sinker then tie on a barrel swivel then tie on a 1 to 3 foot leader with the hook on the end! These 2 rigs are good to start with and good luck!
Reply:try a barb less hook or just bend the barb down with a pr of pliers
Reply:As Injun stated almost any hook can be used for bottom fishing and the rigging is important.

However, since "bottom fishing" is "bait fishing", the newer "circle hooks" are generally better than other designs because the hooks get attached in the corner of the fish's mouth as the line tightens so "setting" the hook is unecessary and the hook is easily removed. This prevents hooking the fish in the guts allows small and non-target fish to be released and "keepers" to be quickly removed from the hook.
Reply:Its not the hooks that are different but the rig you use. Use the rigs thats injun described. Hes got the right idea! Good luck!
