You are not suppose to wear your head gear while your eating. The rubber bands help your teeth to become more straighter. It is difficult to eat with your rubber bands too. I had braces for two years, the ortho told me not to eat with my rubber bands or with the head gear on. You only wear them to sleep or if your not eating food.
I see some people with braces that have hooks, but don't wear rubber bands or head gear, why's that?
Think of teeth as ships floating on the sea...Hooks and bands between 2 teeth are to pull the individuals together.
Headgear goes around the back of the head and pulls the whole lot back at once.
Some braces with no hooks are just for straightening the whole lot out at once (without pulling them back or forward).

Reply:different stages of treatment .. or forgetfulness .. they're supposed to take them off for eating %26amp; brushing .. and to put fresh ones on, but ...
