When i pet my dog she always hooks her paw around my arm, why is this?

Your dog is just letting you know how much she loves you.And to let you know that she will always be there for you know matter what.

When i pet my dog she always hooks her paw around my arm, why is this?
my lab does this. he is trying to move my hand where HE wants me to pet him
Reply:She is showing you she loves you and wants to get closer to you to get more petting! It's not a problem unless she starts demanding that you pet her too often. Everytime she does it say "paw" "good paw" (or shake) and she will learn to shake hands! My puppy used to do this and that's how I taught him PAW!
Reply:she is showing you love
Reply:definitely a sign of affection, mine does the same thing
Reply:the dog is trying to dominate you
Reply:She is showing the same affection to you as you are to her. She looks to you as the alpha in command. Alot of times they will even open their mouth and hold your arm or hand which is letting you know she sees you as the alpha. Its a sign of respect. This is a wonderful sign. Makes for a loyal dog and easy training efforts.
Reply:pure love!!!
Reply:depends where your petting her. Mine likes me sraching under her front legs, so she lifts her leg and rests it on me.
Reply:May b he want 2 **** u or he loves u.
Reply:I'm not sure.. my dog does this too. Maybe it has to do with the breed? My dog does this when we are playing tug of war too.

We've worked on breaking my dog of this, as her little claws get sharp fast, and well, they hurt. Everytime she did it we 'slapped' her paw (not real hard) and said no... the moment she took it off we praised her like crazy. She doesn't do it as much as more, only when she is feeling very playful.
Reply:She loves you!!!!
Reply:My dog does this too, It shows that she loves you, and doesnt want you to stop petting her
