My usb drive (traveldrive) broke. the part which hooks into my usb port broke off almost entirely?

can i bring this somewhere to get the information taken off of it? i am a student and it contains documents i need.

If you open the plastic housing, you can line up the points where it broke, and do two things.





Find a TV repair shop, and ask him to join the broken link


with solder.





This is a very simple repair, I would hunt down a college professor in the computer department, some computer geek will be all to happy to help you out.

Reply:If you take it to the right person it can be 'fixed' enough to get stuff off of it. My recommendation would be to find a USB extension wire of some sort, cut one end off, bare the wires, and solder them onto the broken connections on your drive. Be careful not to get the components too hot, you could ruin the chip. As long as the broken part of the drive does not extend back 'into' the drive where the physical memory is located, this should work.
