Why does trying to hit low hooks keep me from shanking? Better yet, why have I a 7 hdcp had trouble shanking?
If you try to hit low punch shots, there is a risk of you shanking it because you have all the weight on your left foot. Shanks come from taking the club outside the line and looking up causing the shank. Try to take the club in towards your body and not out and stay down on the ball.

You should never mention the word that should not be spoken.
This will improve your swing.

Reply:handicap schmandicap. Golf Happens! you have done something to piss the gods off. start by checking your ball position. you are probably one of the few who have mastered swinging from inside out, maybe to much here. if I had a guess you might be finding the hossel more often than the sweet spot.
Reply:I am amazed that you think you have a 7 handicap, but lack a firm handle on the english language. Too much tv and not enough sunlight. Good boy now go play.

Why dont pro boxers throw right hooks very often?
Because it leaves you open to a quick smack in the face
Why dont pro boxers throw right hooks very often?
Because, in order to do that, you have to pull your right arm back to begin the swing, this exposes you for a quick jab in the face.
Also after you punch, you are leaning forward and off balance. so if you miss landing it, you are also vulnerable.
Helpful?
EDIT - BRENT F, I stand corrected. My first hand experience was primarily school yard fighting as a kid rather then professional boxing. Thanks for the info.
Reply:Why not ask a boxer? - I hate boxing and cannot think of anything more stupid than people paying to watch other people bashing away at each other.
Reply:cos they are crap, they are really awkward to do (for right handed people) cos its difficult to put your bodyweight behind the motion to get power from the back foot - hard to explain. Just stand in right handed stance and try it yourself...
Reply:Boxer's fighting from the orthodox stance don't throw right hooks too often from the outside because it leaves them exposed for a counter left or counter left hook. Takes to long for the punch to get there from the outside. When a fighter gets on the inside it is a different story. You need to throw the right hook because you don't have the space, as you would from the outside to throw a straight right and still have power and snap on the punch.
addition - a little tidbit of info for caffeine_ fiend: you never pull back or wind up on any punch. They are thrown and originate from the shoulder, punches should be thrown with no wasted motion. You can deliver the punch with power doing this as long as the technique is right. the power and snap on your punches really originates from your feet and legs.
Reply:They try to save that for the k.o. punch, as the right arm is generally the strongest.
Reply:pro boxers dont throw single rights often because the punch is always set up by a jab or fake jab first. the jab and foot movement close the gap so then you can throw a right hook throwing a single right hook is easily read and leaves you wide open for counter punches. .
Reply:they save the best 'til last!
Reply:It takes to long to get there is the simple answer.
Why throw a hook when a straight right has as much power or more and gets there faster? The right hook is okay when you are inside and you need that angle to land the punch. Maybe his hands are in a defensive position and its the only way to hit an opening. Right hooks should only be thrown on the inside and even then not that often. Chavez would throw a good right hook on the inside.

Will the metal boot gaiter hooks damage the other clothes in the washing machine?
yes, ive had that happen before. i was them with towels so they donnt hurt anything else.
good luck!
Will the metal boot gaiter hooks damage the other clothes in the washing machine?
Potentially. I'd wash them tied up in a pillowcase or something like that to contain it and not wash it with any 'good' clothes, just sweatpants and gym shirts or alone.

What are your favorite political hooks, or catch phrases, and do you agree with them?
How many times do you think a Clinton has said the phrase "solutions business" in the last three days? That is one of their new catch-phrases used to attack Obama.
"Obama's in the speech business, I'm in the solutions business" ... "Hillary's in the solutions business..."
Nothing wrong with that, every candidate has their catch phrases, like McCain's "Straight Talk Express" and Obama's "Change we can believe in."
I just find it so obvious and patronizing that its almost funny.
Do you have any favorite political catch phrases, either from this election cycle, or from previous ones? And did/do you agree or disagree with them?

Umm, you're the one that tried to sound so fair with your question about stopping the bashing, but I noticed that in that one you left out Hillary, and in this you are bashing her.
I don't find Obama riding on the back of Camelot so inspiring, it is about as near to plagiarism as it gets.
All of the slogans are boring, and no one has an up on the other.
Let's see: ' A chicken in every pot', 'A dinner in every pail'. 'He kept us out of the war', 'Get out and Push'............. Those were the good old days.
Reply:"Washington is broken" - Mitt Romney
This was my favorite because I believe it is a true statement. It's too bad we won't be able to fix it because McCain, Obama, and Hillary are current Senators and Washington insiders. All senators do is sit on panels and vote on issues. I wish we could vote for a governor who actually has experience running a form of government and has expeirience working with both parties to create policies.

Does anyone have any good hooks regarding programming presentations (any kind of programming)?
"C gives you enough rope to hang yourself. C++ also gives you the tree object to tie it to."
That could be a hook into the various types of code.
And
A programmer was walking along the beach when he found a lamp. Upon rubbing the lamp a genie appeared who stated "I am the most powerful genie in the world. I can grant you any wish you want, but only one wish."
The programmer pulled out a map of the Mediterranean area and said "I'd like there to be a just and last peace among the people in the middle east."
The genie responded, "Gee, I don't know. Those people have been fighting since the beginning of time. I can do just about anything, but this is beyond my limits."
The programmer then said, "Well, I am a programmer and my programs have a lot of users. Please make all the users satisfied with my programs, and let them ask sensible changes"
Genie: "Uh, let me see that map again."
That could be a hook into functionality.

Where can I find hanging hooks like you'd find at schools and arenas for hanging up clothes?
They should attach underneath a shelf/hat rack - I've tried Restoration Hardware and Lee Valley tools as well as numerous other sites - but no luck - ideally it should be made of wrought iron/forged or nickelplated.

Try Home depot.
